The Wisconsin Supreme Court election

Protasiewicz defeated Kelly

with 55% of the vote, giving liberals their first majority on the state’s highest court in 15 years

The Wisconsin Supreme Court election was held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, to elect a justice to the Wisconsin Supreme Court for a ten-year term

It was one of the most important and expensive elections of 2023, as it determined the partisan balance of the court and the future of key issues like abortion rights, gerrymandering and voting rights in the battleground state

Kelly conceded the race and congratulated Protasiewicz on her win

State Democrats and abortion rights groups celebrated Protasiewicz’s win as a historic moment for Wisconsin and a sign of hope for the future
